Short Mississippi River Ride

Went out last Sunday to get some pics. Here are the results:

First, The USS Kidd Veterans Memorial. I went through this ship a couple weeks ago and it is exceptionally well done. The museum just over the levee is also excellent. They concentrate more on the historical rather than the personal for the most part. If you have any interest in WWII this is a neat way to spend a few hours in an afternoon.

From there I headed south and ran into the local university. Given the size of this thing, i'm thinking they take their football seriously.

Then I kept going south and found the Whitecastle Ferry dock. It doesn't run on Sunday, but it was neat anyway, I thought.

Jr to leave DEI after 2007 season

Anybody else see the resemblance to the commercial in which he caused a riot by threatening to change his car number to 6.7?

Theresa will be keeping the #8.

Another AHA! Product.

When I say AHA! Product I mean one of those things that you see that makes you kick yourself for missing something so obvious and salable.

I just saw a commercial for PUR Flavor Options. It's brilliant.

A little adapter that attaches to your PUR sink faucet mounted water filter doo-hickey and flavors the water as it filters it.

I'll rank this one up there near Huggies Little Swimmers. (Although the market is a bit more limited.)

Iraq war hampers tornado recovery

A shortage of trucks, helicopters and other equipment -- all sent to the war in Iraq -- has hampered recovery in a U.S. town obliterated by a tornado, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius said on Monday.

Here's hoping the next one takes out the governor's mansion.
