Meredith Graves is an Idiot.

For you who may not know, Meredith Graves is a lady from Tennessee who holds a legal concealed carry permit in her home state.

She traveled into New York City, attempted to "check" her pistol at the 9/11 memorial and was promptly locked up.

Now all I'm reading is how badly she was treated because she merely "didn't understand" that New York does not offer reciprocity to any other state's CCW permit holders.

I call bullshit. The first thing we were taught in our CCW class here in Louisiana (Well, after "don't point a weapon at anything you don't intend to kill.") was that state gun laws differ and it is your responsibility to know the differences if you are going to carry across state lines.

She is a moron who shouldn't have qualified for her permit in the first place as she is obviously incapable of doing minimal research. And if those facts weren't brought up in her CCW class then her instructor should be held liable as well.

Sure, New York has unconstitutional gun restrictions. I get that. It doesn't change the fact that they are the law and you have to deal with them.

Mrs. Graves makes the rest of the law abiding CCW permit holders in the country look like imbeciles.

I hope the NRA (of which I've been a Life Member for 22 years now,) can get the laws changed and gets her released from the clink. But until then, I'm going to continue to do my research before carrying my weapons into other states.
