Boy, why are all these cars heading right at me?

Pilot notices something odd when there are no lights on runway.

When everything in life is coming your way, you're probably in the wrong lane.

It seems as if there's a lot of blame to go around. That was dreadful! I guess that we should never take anything for granted.

rcnjutpThe blame in this case rests on the
pilots shoulders.
runway 26 and the one they were to
use look nothing alike. Darkness or not the plane has lights for tsxiing. The capt. and F.O. could
have verified the proper runway by
tuning in the instrument approach
freq. for runway 22 and found/
verified where they were. Also
instrument runways have very
differant markings painted on them.
Not to mention the huge runway
numbers at the ends of the runways.
When the NTSB/FAA accident report
comes out look for two words "pilot
error".
To add insult to injury the woods they hit are just a small patch of trees just off the end of the runway.A 30 degree turn to the right may have helped if they were prepared to do it.
So says Puppy's Pop.

Oh, one more thing. I just remembered two more things that could have prevented this accident.
The F.O. asked which runway and the
Capt. said "22". Now all planes from almost the Wright Flier are
equipted with a compass. This plane
had a compass and at least two
directional gyros. A quick glance
at either of these instruments would have confirmed the runway
they were using.
